The Wedding of Judd and Allison Smith

We are pleased to share the highlights of Judd and Allison Smith's wedding with you. This fun and energetic couple allowed us to be a part of their special day this past summer and we are thankful for it. Their wedding was held at Hillcrest Church of Christ followed by their beautiful reception at the Abilene Country Club.

As you'll see in this video some of the sweetest things about their wedding included Judd's tearful reaction to seeing his bride for the first time and their fun and stylish recessional.

We hope you enjoy Judd and Allison's special day, we sure did!

Brandon and Jennifer's Ribbon Detailing

IN-Focus had the pleasure of filming the wedding of Brandon Poehls and Jennifer Woods this past weekend.

We take our time with the video - color correcting, editing together footage from 3 camera angles and making sure your video tells the story of your wedding day. In the meantime though we have some beautiful details we want to share with you.

We take a few still pictures from each wedding to use in our graphic design. We wanted to show you some pics from the wedding this past weekend that we hope will inspire you. Brandon and Jennifer used ribbon in subtle, yet striking ways to bring together the entire event.

Our favorite part about incorporating ribbon detailing is that you can achieve this no matter what your style is.

Some Ideas:
Ivory and Dark Blue for an elegant feel
Mossy Brown and Rafia for country charm
White and Baby Pink - so sweet!
Plum velvet and Light blue - retro

Play with textures, widths, colors and shine. Use it in different areas around the wedding to tie (get it?) it all together!

Here are some more pics from Brandon and Jennifer's bright, crisp wedding.

Rene and Wesley Ballard - Wedding Highlights

On the 14th of November we were privileged to be a part of Rene and Wesley's special day. The ceremony was at First Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas with a reception following at the Abilene Country Club. Both of these places offered the perfect backdrop for their elegant wedding. The overall feeling was timeless and beautiful. Rene and Wesley did have some modern, fun elements too such as his golf themed Groom's Cake and their creative and colorful floral arrangements.

Look at the cute little cupcakes with mini golf balls!

I love the unusual texture to this arrangement
Here are the Wedding Day Highlights. Don't miss the sweet emotion on Rene and Wesley's faces as they say their vows!

Our Wedding DVD Covers

We get a lot of comments and questions about our DVD covers, menus and labels.

At IN-Focus we have 4 graphic designers, so any chance we get to make something simple go the extra mile with some awesome design work we're on it!

The wonderful thing about our DVD graphic design is that we make each one specifically to match the wedding. We use the colors from the bouquet and bridesmaids dresses and the overall feel of the wedding (formal, fun, casual, etc.) to design each package. We use pictures that we take of the couple, cakes, family and the fun decorations. They all turn out a bit different and they are all so much fun to make.

Here's a DVD cover from a recent wedding:
Such a beautiful couple, we wanted their cover to be as romantic and elegant as their wedding was. We'll try to put up more covers soon!

Welcome! FAQs

Hello all and welcome to the IN-Focus Wedding Blog!

We're about to roll into wedding season and we want to kick off this busy time with our blog.
Some of our FAQs are below - we want to give you a look at how we do weddings and hopefully you'll see our passion and experience behind making special memories for you to remember your special day with. Later on we'll be writing helpful posts on how to make the little details perfect (fluffing your petticoat etc!).

What exactly is videography?

Videography is video production with fifty percent emphasis on audio and fifty percent on video.

I’ve seen home videos from weddings before. What differentiates your professional wedding video from amateur footage?

One of the big problems with home videos is that they don’t take into consideration the importance of audio. We have the equipment to make your audio crystal clear to go along with the beautiful footage.

We also have a sense of how weddings happen, and how wedding DVDs should be produced. Yes, you can have a digital camera, and a high quality camera even, but unless you have the expertise and know the next action, you’re really going to miss out on a lot of the story. My husband and I have videotaped over 300 weddings. We know when to zoom out because the groomsmen are about to do something funny, we know when to zoom in because the bride is about to cry. The benefit of hiring a videographer really comes down to the experience and gained expertise you get when you hire a professional.

I like the idea of having a wedding video, I’m just not sure it’s worth the extra cost and effort. Why do you recommend video?

When your wedding day is over you have a new spouse, you have your rings, you have a few memories, and that’s about it, unless you have photography and videography to look back on.

So even though videography may seem like a pricey investment, it’s well worth it because that’s what it is, an investment: in your memories, in your story, and in your new life as husband and wife. It’s hard to put a price tag on something like that. The truth is, you won’t wear your dress again, you won’t have the cake, except the portion you’re going to eat a year later… and you certainly didn’t experience the wedding the way everyone else did, but if you hire a videographer you get a chance to see and hear your wedding day as your guests did, in all its splendor. What did the groom say as she was walking down the aisle… what did their vows sound like? What made her cry during the ceremony? What made her laugh? These are the questions your grandkids will ask, and the things you can’t hear when you’re just looking at your still photographs. Videography is a timeless way to remember your wedding, something you’ll treasure and pass down for years.

Why should I hire IN-Focus Digital to videotape my wedding?

We have the experience, the equipment, and the desire to make sure your video is the best we’ve ever done. This is not just a hobby for us, nor is it just a job. It is something we truly enjoy doing and a talent we are continually developing. We constantly research new trends in wedding planning, graphic design and videography techniques, and we keep up-to-date with the latest technology. IN-Focus Digital is proud to offer you extensive and professional options for your wedding video.

What makes IN-Focus Digital different from other wedding videographers?

Unlike other wedding videographers, we work with a variety of clients to produce many different styles of video. We shoot promotional videos, training videos, corporate videos, event videos and live event videography. Because of our experience, we are used to working as a team with our clients. That is why we meet with the bride and groom beforehand, to get to know their personalities and find out what is important to them. We capture what brides and grooms want to see, rather than following a set pattern for every wedding.

Will you actually be the one videotaping my wedding?

Yes. In fact, we are very personal when we video weddings. We will discuss exactly what you want out of your video, and we attend and tape every wedding as we have for years. We have three videographers, as well as several other skilled employees on hand should you need extra coverage or should an emergency arise.

What style do you shoot with? What can I expect my wedding video to look like?

We shoot weddings documentary style. We don't tell you how to position yourself or how to look. We just capture the memories as is. That said, we can shoot and edit your DVD to fit many different styles and preferences, based on what you prefer. We can create your video to be a chronological retelling of the day's events, similar to The Wedding Story on TLC. We can also give your video a dreamy look by using soft focus and special effects. We edit to make the video fit your style!

What about outdoor weddings?

Yes, we do outdoor weddings as well. Many of our events, such as groundbreaking ceremonies and promotional videos are shot outside, so we are accustomed to working around the special challenges that come up in outdoor events. Visit our website for some samples of outdoor weddings we've shot! Pay special attention to the audio!

Here is part of a testimony that a bride sent to us:

"I knew capturing an outdoor ranch wedding on video would be difficult- no electricity and unpredictable weather were a few of my many concerns. I wanted footage to remember my special day, but with 30+ mph wind gusts on the day of the ceremony, I anticipated most of the video would be inaudible.

When I received my IN-Focus Wedding DVD, I was shocked to see & hear the entire ceremony as if it had been recorded and edited in a sound studio!"

~Courtney Giammalva Williams (Bride)

What will my final DVD and its packaging look like?

With every IN-Focus Digital package you will get a completely customized DVD cover. The graphics will be made just for you, from photography we will take at the wedding, and by incorporating the colors and overall wedding style from your big day. The end result is a professional, Hollywood style case, and cover fit for movie nights and even display.

How soon should I book you?

Because we do not double book, and limit our number of weddings per year, you should book us ASAP. We require a $250 deposit to save the date, and we book on a first come first serve basis, so you really should call as far in advance as possible.

Whew! That's a ton of information! If you have any other questions feel free to call us at 325.672.0715. Our initial information session is free. If you're wanting to see some samples of our work please visit our Wedding Theater.
